WHAT IS BREAKING THE BARRIERS OF MENTAL HEALTH:
Breaking the Barriers of Mental Health is a foundation that empowers communities to speak openly about mental health issues and hopes to increase the number of people who will talk to someone or a mental health professional. Each month a free panel discussion/think tank is held as platform for people to speak freely about their encounters with mental illness via guided conversations with various community leaders. These monthly functions have received a resounding amount of recognition from the local mental health community, students, and of course those who want to explore ways that encourage living a well life.
Breaking the Barriers of Mental Health Brunch is a signature event birthed from those monthly panel discussions to bring about awareness of mental health issues and as a means to create a pathway of sustainability in our communities. Additionally, this annual event will be used as a fundraising tool for Mental Health Education in the Mid-South.
Annually, the brunch introduces mental health professionals and highly sought after public figures associated with mental health education to residents of the Mid-South. Also, each year high profile panelists are featured to speak on breaking the stigmas of mental illness, recognizing triggers, and where to seek help to name a few.
THE AUDIENCE:
